I am an English-speaking photographer based in Normandy, and I have spent years exploring these coastal spots at every tide and season. There is a reason photographers travel from all over the world to shoot on the Normandy coast. The golden hour here is something else — a soft, warm light that turns the sand pink and the sea into liquid gold. The clouds catch the colours and create a constantly changing canvas above you.

For a beach pregnancy photoshoot, I always schedule around the golden hour (typically the hour before sunset). This is when the light is most flattering, the wind often drops, and the beach is quieter. The result is a gallery of images that feel warm, dreamy, and timeless.

The tide also plays a role. At low tide, the beaches of Deauville and Trouville reveal huge expanses of firm, wet sand that reflect the sky like a mirror. At high tide, the water comes right up to the seawall, creating more intimate compositions. I plan every session around the tide times for the best possible results.

👗 Styling tips for the beach

Flowing maxi dresses that catch the breeze work beautifully — think lightweight fabrics, soft colours like cream, blush, dusty rose, or sage green. A simple knitted jumper with jeans is perfect for a more natural, cosy look. Barefoot on the sand with a flowing skirt is a favourite. I recommend bringing two outfits — one dressy, one casual — and we will decide on the spot which works best with the light and location. I send a complete styling guide to every client before their session.

Do not forget: a light jacket or shawl for between shots (it gets breezy by the sea), comfortable shoes for walking on sand, and any props you might want — a ultrasound photo, baby shoes, or a special piece of jewellery.
